Let me know if you have any questions about the install, I consider myself very experienced under the car and it took me about 6-7 hours with a 1 hour lunch break and a few pee breaks.I’m going to explain how I went about replacing the clutch on my 2004 ZHP Sedan in five parts. My car went from having the longest shifts of any car I drive to the shortest (like shorter than my dad’s stock 05 330xi). The shifts are slightly notchy, very positive feeling, and very short. I’m going to have to drive it more to give an honest review, but my initial impressions (even after all the work) are very good. There is still some play in the carrier (probably should have replaced the rear mount as well, and I need new transmission mounts, mine are in two pieces as I found out today). I’ve only driven it home from my parents (about 15 miles) but the short shifts are nice and crisp. The shift lever is basically vertical in 2nd and 4th gear, and the rest are forwards of that. I do agree with people that the shift knob feels like it is a little farther forward than it was before – the best way I can describe it is that you’ve got the 1-N-2 positions with the UUC kit in the same space that the original 1-N positions are. Once I had the shifter all installed, I was very impressed with the positive engagement during a few test shifts. Also, getting the carrier out and then back in, was a wicked pain, with the stainless ERK(?) sleeve that goes in the carrier to support the new shift lever – you can’t slide the carrier back into the rear mount and into the front mount with the trans up in position either. It was well worth it to make sure you replace the front carrier bushings with delrin though, it took out a good deal of play. I had to drop the trans crossmember to get some extra clearance, and I had to do this at least 2 or 3 times (with a jack under the trans it was really hard to get in the right position to get my hands up there). Like turned this into a 7 hour job pain in the ass. That clip is a huge pain in the ass to take out and put back in.

If you’ve read the UUC directions online, they mention the front carrier clip that you just pop off with a flat screwdriver.
